Trim Healthy Table by Trim Healthy Mama

Have you heard of Trim Healthy Mama? A while back, I bought a copy of Trim Healthy Table. It’s a bestselling cookbook based on eating or pairing foods together, according to their energy fuels.

I bought Trim Healthy Table based on the great reviews on Amazon. I’m not sure if Amazon recommended the cookbook or how I found out about it.

When I ordered the cookbook, I had no idea it was based on the Trim Healthy Mama plan. So, I was curious about the plan.

Trim Healthy Mama “THM”

Their plan is based on healthy eating and contains lots of practical advice. The focus is on lower end of the glycemic index. And, eliminating sugar and white flour. They also recommend avoiding white potatoes for weight-loss.

Trim Healthy Meal Plan

Basically, THM meals fall into three categories. Each meals contains protein, and it is paired with the following:

  • S (satisfying) meals focus on fats for fuels
  • E (energizing) meals focus on carbs for fuel
  • FP (fuel pull) meals have lean protein and are low in carbs and fat.

After reading the condensed version of the plan that’s included in the Trim Healthy Table book and trying out a few recipes (see below), I started on the plan November 1st.

It is a little challenging getting the hang of the plan. But, I’m learning as I go along and I like how you can restart and get back on the plan in 3 hours.

There’s no condemnation or judgment, but plenty of grace is present in this plan. And, there’s plenty of support on Facebook (look for THM groups) and on their website.

Trim Healthy Table Recipes

I bet you’re wondering how the recipes are? Well, they’re really good! Here are some of the ones I’ve tried:

  • Meatball Casserole in a one pot casserole
  • On Halloween, I made Pumpkin Bam Cake and wasn’t even tempted by all the Halloween candy
  • Mama Mia Meatloaf
  • Creamy Verde Chicken Chili

Everything has been really good, and you’d never guess that these meals are part of a weight-loss plan.

Trim Healthy Bread

Imagine my surprise when I found out that you can have bread, low-carb tortillas, and flatbreads.

I just love the La Tortilla low-carb tortillas. I use low-fat, refried black beans with baby spinach for an E meal. Or, with carne asada, bell peppers, and sour cream for a S meal.

Using an on plan bread, you can have a turkey breast sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and mustard for an E lunch.

There are “better” on-plan breads than this one, but this brand is easily found in stores.

I share more of my progress on THM in future posts. After a week, I have more energy and feel very clear-headed.

On a very positive note, I didn’t have much of a detox since I didn’t have much sugar before THM. And, I decided to go by how I feel for the first month, and not weighing myself.

In a few weeks, I’ll share some of the THM branded substitutions and the supplements they recommend that I’ve been using.
