Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray.
Brown ground beef and onion together in a skillet. Use the back of a wooden spoon to crumble the ground beef.
Drain fat from skillet. Sprinkle salt over cooked meat and onions.
Spread ground beef and onions in the prepared pie plate. Top with shredded cheese.
In a bowl, stir the Bisquick topping ingredients together with a whisk until blended. Pour into pie plate.
